Chapter 323: Turtle Shell

with each bout of coughing; meanwhile, his mother patted him on the back from time to time.As before, Professor Yue took the lead. He felt the child's pulse and asked the mother: "Does the child feel...Miao Shou Tian Shi sodu

"Little brother, you should call me sister. Don't say Zhou姐[Miss Zhou], it's so unpleasant to hear! Besides, tonight come to the Qing Shan Manor in West Suburb; I'll cook some delicious food for you!" Zhou Ruoying said with a hint of reproach towards Xiao Yu.

"Okay then, sister, can I bring a friend along"

Upon hearing Zhou Ruoying's words, Xiao Yu thought about it and told her so.

When he heard that she wanted him to come over for dinner tonight, the first person who came to his mind was Wei Jun. Since Wei Jun decided to start working at his family’s company, getting to know Song Hushan would be of great benefit to him. Even though they had met before, they were not very familiar with each other. This time he could let them formally meet.

He could only help Wei Jun this far; for the future, it would depend on his own efforts.

"Sure, come along!" Without even asking who Xiao Yu wanted to bring, Zhou Ruoying readily agreed.

After hanging up with Zhou Ruoying, Xiao Yu immediately called Wei Jun.

Wei Jun didn't answer for a while; when he finally did, he said: "Little Yu, is there something"

Xiao Yu heard Wei Jun breathing heavily and asked worriedly: "Brother Jun, where are you now"

"I'm at the store. I'm clearing out today to sell it off!" replied Wei Jun on the phone. As soon as he decided to help his father's company, he would go without hesitation. And this antique shop probably wouldn't have time for him anymore, so he planned to close it down.

Back then, in order to open up the store, Wei Jun had traveled many places and collected a lot of good items which were all kept as his treasures. He hadn’t thought about selling them; opening this antique shop was originally aimed at making money while helping him collect more valuable items.

"Okay, wait for me then, I'll come to help you!" Xiao Yu decided to go and offer assistance after hearing that Wei Jun was clearing out the store.

Wansheng Hall currently didn't have many patients, so he went straight away without waiting. He just informed Xiao Hongyang briefly before heading to Wei Jun's antique shop.

In the antique shop, Wei Jun was alone packing things up. The employee that had been helping him, who got an extra month’s pay, had already left.

"Brother Jun!" Xiao Yu walked to the antique shop and called out when he saw Wei Jun busy alone inside.

"Xiao Yu, find a place to sit yourself," Wei Jun said after glancing at him.

"Brother Jun, is there anything I can help with" Xiao Yu entered and asked. He then began to help him tidy up.

"Oh yeah, bring your car too later; my car won't be able to carry everything in one go," Wei Jun said upon noticing Xiao Yu tidying things up.

"Sure thing!" Xiao Yu put down the items he was holding and went out of the antique shop towards the parking lot.

About twenty minutes later, Xiao Yu returned to the store. By then, Wei Jun had already packed most of the items into boxes, mostly ceramics which he cushioned with shredded foam in smaller boxes to prevent breakage during transport.

"Xiao Yu, take these and put them in your car," Wei Jun instructed him upon seeing the sealed boxes.

"Alright!" Xiao Yu responded and started loading the items into his vehicle.

The two of them worked quickly, and soon all the goods were loaded onto their cars.

Inside, there still remained a considerable amount of merchandise. Most of it was not valuable, let alone genuine; rather, they served as window dressing for the shop and sold the most among these items.

In fact, if an antique store can boast ten percent real antiques in its inventory, that's quite impressive. Typically, a store would only have one or two genuine pieces, some even none at all.

Wei Jun’s shop was already doing well compared to others, having obtained numerous authentic items through his constant expeditions to rural areas and underground black markets.

The precious items were kept in his home, the real antiques here had been packed up by him now, leaving mostly replicas behind. So he wasn’t too concerned about them.

"Sigh... Let's go back. We'll post a notice to transfer the shop and be done with it."

Standing in the middle of his antique store where he had poured so much effort, Wei Jun sighed, looking dejected as he spoke.

"Let’s head back then," Xiao Yu said to him.

When Wei Jun heard Xiao Yu calling him and saw that he had already circled the room, he walked towards the exit.

"Xiao Yu, lock the door. I'll go down first!" After stepping out of the shop door without looking back, Wei Jun said to Xiao Yu before quickly heading downstairs.

Xiao Yu slowly closed the door. Suddenly, when his gaze swept over the antique rack, he was instantly captivated by something in the bottom-right corner of the western rack.

The moment Xiao Yu saw this thing, a sudden tremor surged through him. Now, as he stared at it, his heart raced even faster. This item must be extraordinary to cause such an emotional response in Xiao Yu.

After all, Xiao Yu was a practitioner of the Qimen system; ordinary items could hardly move him emotionally unless they were exceptional or had a significant connection to him.

Xiao Yu looked at the object. It appeared elliptical and dark on the antique rack, resembling an inverted bowl.

He walked over, picked it up carefully, and examined it closely. The object seemed to be a turtle shell with strange engravings covering its surface, as if they were man-made carvings.

Suddenly, Xiao Yu stared blankly at the turtle shell. Just then, he noticed a faint wisp of death energy emanating from within the shell.

How could a mere turtle shell emit death energy Moreover, even now, no matter how hard Xiao Yu looked, he couldn't discern anything unusual about it.

In Xiao Yu's eyes, the current turtle shell was just an inanimate object. It showed nothing special, and all he could see was that it was a turtle shell with nothing else remarkable about it.

Although Xiao Yu didn't find anything extraordinary about this item yet, its ability to stir his emotions suggested it wasn’t ordinary.

Xiao Yu put away the turtle shell, locked the antique shop door, and headed downstairs.

When Xiao Yu arrived at the ground floor, Wei Jun was already sitting in the car. Although the sadness on Wei Jun's face had faded, his demeanor indicated he still felt conflicted about closing the store. After all, this place held all of his hard work over more than a year.

After putting so much effort into transforming the antique shop into what it was today, it wasn't easy for him to accept its closure.

"Regretting your decision" Xiao Yu, holding the turtle shell in hand, walked outside the antique city and asked Wei Jun who was sitting inside his car.

"Although I'm reluctant, I don’t regret my choice!" Upon hearing this, Wei Jun looked up at the antique shop with a firm expression on his face and said resolutely.

Upon hearing Wei Jun's words, Xiao Yu nodded and proceeded to unload everything from the car with Wei Jun at his place.

"Brother Jun, what’s the origin of this turtle shell" After they finished putting away their stuff, Xiao Yu took out the turtle shell and asked Wei Jun.

Wei Jun looked at the turtle shell in Xiao Yu's hand. He tapped his head thoughtfully for a moment before saying, "This I bought it from a farmer when I went to Chang'an for twenty bucks. It’s just a turtle shell with no use; I originally thought it was used for divination, but after returning and checking some materials, I found that the patterns on this turtle shell are different from those of ancient divination shells."

Wei Jun took the turtle shell from Xiao Yu's hand and turned it over in his hands as he continued, "These patterns here were probably just random scratches. Anyway, since I bought it with money, someone might like it, so I put it on display for sale, but people only looked at it without buying anything."

"Brother Jun, I quite like this turtle shell, can I buy it" Xiao Yu sat down on the sofa and said to Wei Jun.

"Sure, if you like it then take it. Otherwise, I would have thrown it away anyway; besides, when we clear out the store later, such items aren’t worth much."

After hearing Xiao Yu’s words, Wei Jun tossed him the turtle shell and said.

Xiao Yu nodded without speaking. He knew that Wei Jun wouldn't charge him since it only cost a few dozen dollars to get hold of.

Although Xiao Yu was aware that this thing was extraordinary, he didn’t know its specific origin or function, so there was nothing more he could say to Wei Jun about it.

"Looks like I’ll have to compensate him somewhere else then!" After catching the turtle shell tossed by Wei Jun, Xiao Yu looked at his hand and thought silently.

After resting for a bit, Xiao Yu expressed his intention to leave. Wei Jun likely still had a lot of work to do.

"Oh right, Brother Jun, come have dinner with me tonight; I’ll introduce you to someone. In the future, when you’re in business dealings, it’s inevitable that you'll interact with him."

When Xiao Yu reached the door, he suddenly remembered that he was going to eat dinner at Song Hushan's place today and turned back to say this to Wei Jun.

"Oh Who are we eating with I need to prepare," Upon hearing Xiao Yu’s words, Wei Jun, who had been lying diagonally on the sofa earlier, quickly stood up and asked.

Even Wei Jun was extremely impressed by Xiao Yu's network of contacts. Every person Xiao Yu knew was someone he looked up to, and their interactions seemed to be centered around Xiao Yu.

This is why Wei Jun felt this way now upon hearing that Xiao Yu wanted to introduce him to a friend; it must not be an ordinary individual!re being taken away by them; how different was this from outright robbery Even a cornered rabbit would bite back. How much more so with humans! If they let things continue like this, something terribl...
