Now, they vaguely guessed that Xiao Yu was the one who injured Wang Jing and Li Rong from the Wang and Li families. The people who had just come to greet Xiao Yu were the parties responsible for taking on the consequences of this incident; the only one missing was Elder Li, but his disciple Zhang Dahai was present.

It turned out that even though these families knew that Wang Jing and Li Rong had been beaten up and that the attacker was a common doctor, they didn’t know what he looked like. They just knew from reports that he was very young.

Now, seeing Xiao Yu and those who greeted him, they could tell that Xiao Yu should be the young man who injured Wang Jing and Li Rong.

Xiao Yu sat chatting with Zhong Tao and others while waiting for the banquet to start.

The time slowly passed. Suddenly, Zhang Dahai came running from the inner hall to the outer hall toward Xiao Yu.

"Doctor Xiao! Big Brother Dahai is looking for you!" Zhong Tao, who was chatting with Xiao Yu, saw Zhang Dahai coming their way and hurriedly told Xiao Yu.

Since Xiao Yu’s back faced the inner hall, he didn’t see Zhang Dahai until Zhong Tao reminded him. He then turned to look at Zhang Dahai rushing over.

Xiao Yu noticed that though Zhang Dahai's face was calm, his anxiousness couldn't be concealed in his eyes.

"Big Brother! What happened" Xiao Yu asked as he quickly stood up and walked towards Zhang Dahai.

Zhang Dahai looked around and seeing people watching them, he pulled Xiao Yu out of the outer hall to the corridor.

“Big Brother! What’s going on” Upon reaching the corridor, Xiao Yu asked Zhang Dahai again.

"Just now at the Song family residence, Elder Song suddenly fell ill and seems quite serious. Brother Song told me to take you there immediately; he has already left through that door, and Yunxi and Aunt Zhou have also gone ahead!"

Zhang Dahai anxiously informed Xiao Yu.

"What Then let's go right away!" Upon hearing Zhang Dahai’s words, Xiao Yu’s expression changed drastically, and he quickly said. He hadn't expected such a turn of events.

After saying this, Xiao Yu left with Zhang Dahai, while the banquet continued here under the chairmanship of Song Huashan's cousin. Of course, no other important figures would come either.

Xiao Yu and Zhang Dahai reached where Zhang Dahai parked his car; both got in after which Zhang Dahai drove out toward the main hall’s exit.

Xiao Yu saw a mid-sized bus in front of him, which turned west when it reached the main road.

Zhang Dahan's car also turned west and followed closely behind the mid-sized bus.

On the main road, Zhang Dahan's car started blaring sirens as it sped off, quickly overtaking the mid-sized bus and racing further west.

Driving through Beijing’s congested streets, Zhang Dahan maneuvered his vehicle like a swift fish in water, effortlessly overtaking one car after another.

The siren on Zhang Dahan's car sounded different from that of an ordinary police car; it was more urgent and continuous.

Lazily standing traffic police at intersections were startled by this tight cluster of sirens even before they could hear them clearly. Their faces changed drastically upon hearing the sound.

Following their captain’s lead, these policemen swiftly ran to both sides of the intersection, stopping passing vehicles urgently. By the time Zhang Dahan's car arrived, no cars were crossing the junction anymore.

The traffic police quickly saluted when they saw Zhang Dahan's car approaching and immediately used their radios to instruct other intersections to block traffic after Zhang Dahan’s vehicle had passed through.

After Zhang Dahan's car had gone, before these policemen could relax and return to the roadside, another set of sirens sounded from behind them.

The policemen were momentarily stunned upon hearing this siren again; they quickly blocked vehicles intending to cross the junction. After allowing the mid-sized bus to pass, they waited for a moment before releasing traffic on both sides once more.

Drivers waiting at these intersections showed no signs of impatience or annoyance. Clearly accustomed to such occurrences in Beijing, their expressions remained calm and composed.

Once traffic resumed its normal flow, the police captain wiped his brow and walked to the side of the road; they had received no notification about any high-ranking officials coming through yet experienced this unusual situation, leaving him shaken.

As he reached the roadside, his radio crackled to life. Another street’s police captain was on the line, revealing similar occurrences happening there too, shocking that officer as well.

"What could be going on" This policeman wondered, looking in the direction where Xiao Yu's car had vanished.

Such incidents weren’t likely to be high-level officials passing through; officials wouldn't split their route like this unless something significant was happening. However, they couldn't fathom what that might be.

Owing to the police captain's coordination, Xiao Yu’s group continued unimpeded as each intersection informed subsequent ones of their approach.

The car carrying Xiao Yu and the others sped out of the capital city without stopping, heading to the western suburbs. They turned onto a road marked with signs indicating it was a military restricted area.

This road was approximately two kilometers long. At the entrance, several armed soldiers were on duty, while an iron wire fence blocked the middle of the road.

When these guards spotted Zhang Dahai's car approaching, they walked up to stop them. Zhang Dahai rolled down his window and handed over a document.

The soldier accepted the document and gave it a quick glance before saluting Zhang Dahai and gesturing towards the road entrance.

Upon seeing this gesture, the soldiers promptly moved the iron fence to allow Zhang Dahai's car through.

At the end of the road, several vehicles entered the military compound ahead. Xiao Yu observed that among them were likely Song Hushan’s group.

After passing this checkpoint, since Xiao Yu had no habit of wearing a watch, he checked his phone for the time and saw it was already 11:30 AM. Their journey had taken nearly an hour.

Suddenly, Xiao Yu noticed that there was no signal on his phone and looked puzzled.

"Zhang Dahai seemed to catch onto Xiao Yu's confusion and said, “This is a secret military base where all signals are blocked. Only specific signals can get through!”

“Oh.” Upon hearing Zhang Dahai’s explanation, Xiao Yu nodded.

Their car quickly arrived at the entrance of the military compound. Although the guard here wasn't as grandiose as that in front of the Great Hall, it was still led by a Major. Even though Zhang Dahai had already shown his credentials earlier, they were stopped once more. The soldiers clearly recognized Zhang Dahai; they saluted him and scanned his car with an instrument.

Only after completing this scan did the soldier allow their passage into the compound.

Entering through the main gate, a vast open area greeted them inside. Apart from some strange protrusions on the ground, there was nothing else in sight.

Moments later, they arrived at another entrance where the guards did not stop them this time. However, the door here was peculiar; it resembled an underpass.

To enter, their car had to pass through this archway. Once the guards cleared a path for them, Zhang Dahai accelerated and drove forward.

Only after passing through both doors did Zhang Dahai explain to Xiao Yu that these two checkpoints were designed to detect suspicious electronic devices. Especially the second door; anything emitting unusual electronic signals would be stopped here.

Zhang Dahan drove Xiao Yu to an area that seemed like a living quarter. Behind this living quarter was a small hill about 300 meters high.

The hill was covered with dense trees, but due to winter it looked somewhat desolate. This desolation complemented the dull appearance of the living quarters, where all buildings were monotonous shades of earthy yellow, and occasionally military personnel in uniforms would pass by.

Zhang Dahan’s car didn’t stop at this place; instead, he drove to the back end of this living quarter. Behind it was a wall with a small gate on its northwest corner where several cars were parked.

After Zhang Dahan parked his car there, Xiao Yu followed him and approached this small gate. There weren’t any guards stationed outside the gate, but inside there was a guard tower where soldiers took turns standing watch.

This guard post didn’t obstruct Zhang Dahan’s entry; anyone entering must have had the necessary credentials of the military camp and frequently came here. After passing through so many rigorous checkpoints, this one was merely symbolic or for emergencies.

After going through the small gate, they entered a mini garden where all flowers were withered due to winter, leaving only grass, evergreen bushes, and a few pine trees still green. In the center of the garden stood artificial mountains, pavilions, and fountains.

Beyond this little garden was an arched gate leading into a circular courtyard where a giant inverted 'Fu' character (blessing) was inscribed on a shadow wall facing the gate.

After passing the shadow wall, they entered a basketball-court-sized yard. At one end stood a two-story villa that looked like a farmhouse with two stories. The yard had no flowers or plants, only low greenhouses used for growing vegetables next to it.

Song Hushan led Xiao Yu into the house; as soon as Zhang Dahan opened the door, murmurs of voices came from inside.

After entering the room, they saw that there were over thirty people in this small living room, some sitting and others standing.

"Little Yu, you’re finally here!" Upon entering, Song Hushan, who was at the sofa by the entrance of the living room, hurriedly walked towards them.

"Uncle Song, what exactly is going on" Xiao Yu asked Song Hushan.

"I’m not quite sure either. Today, Grandpa was supposed to leave for the Great Hall but suddenly collapsed at the stairwell and hasn’t regained consciousness since then. The doctors upstairs haven't found any obvious symptoms of illness, but they said that Grandpa’s pulse is gradually weakening."

Hearing this, Song Hushan briefly explained to Xiao Yu.

"Oh!" Upon hearing what Song Hushan had to say, Xiao Yu frowned slightly in response.

“You must be Xiao Yu! How confident are you about treating Brother Song's illness” After Song Hushan finished speaking, an elderly voice came from the sofa in the center of the living room. Nonetheless, despite this lack of knowledge, they showed great enthusiasm towards him, making Xiao Yu feel a sense of warmth—these we...
