This middle-aged man looked at Master Li and the others. A paper packet slid out of his sleeve into his hand.

Holding the paper packet, he took it in their absence and tore it open, scattering its contents towards the air in front of him, creating a grayish fog that blocked his path ahead.

After tearing the paper packet, he quickly dashed toward the house.

All this happened in an instant. By the time Master Li and the others reacted and tried to follow, the man had already been obscured by the cloud of dust. Remembering the silent poisoning by Elder Wu, they could only watch as the man ran into the house.

They were not worried though; even if this person entered the house, could he hide forever Master Li and the others sensed that the man was still inside and had not escaped through any secret passages, so they waited outside without rushing in.

When the middle-aged man ran into the room, Xiao Yu’s soul followed him in as well.

The room contained a dirt bed, a round table, and two chairs. On the bed lay thick-looking animal fur blankets that appeared very soft. In one corner stood several containers resembling jars covered by a large red cloth.

Upon entering the room, Xiao Yu immediately looked toward the corner. Although these containers resembled wine vats, he sensed faint fluctuations of natural elemental energy emanating from them.

The man also walked to this corner after entering and pulled back the red cloth covering the containers, revealing them inside.

Seeing these jars made Xiao Yu pause for a moment. They looked like ceramic wine vats but were sealed with yellow paper talismans; it was from under these talismans that he had sensed the faint elemental energy fluctuations earlier.

The man stared at the ceramic vats, gritted his teeth, and showed an expression of ferocity as he walked forward to peel off all the talismans on them.

As soon as these talismans were removed from the ceramic jars, streams of malevolent energy started emanating from within them.

The man looked at this malevolent energy rising out of the vats. A trace of cruelty appeared on his face; he lightly bit down on his tongue with his teeth.

"Pfft..."

This middle-aged man spat out a mouthful of fresh blood. Using this blood, he formed hand signs and silently recited an incantation.

As the incantation left his lips, the spewed blood transformed into a red mist that immediately enveloped all the malevolent spirits. Soon after, these spirits turned into ghosts which, upon contact with the man's blood, seemed to become his puppets, obeying his commands.

However, once he had expelled this mouthful of blood, the man’s face and flesh rapidly began to dry up.

Xiao Yu raised an eyebrow. This person was using a secret technique, expending his essence blood to feed these spirits so they would follow him.

Although this middle-aged man had lost quite a bit of essence blood and flesh, he didn’t care at all because compared with his life, those were insignificant.

The middle-aged man made another hand sign and walked towards the door. He intended to lure everyone inside since it was daytime; though there wasn't sunlight outside, these spirits' power would be greatly diminished outdoors. To maximize their strength, he needed them indoors.

"Hehe... you’ll all meet your doom!" At this point, the middle-aged man slowly walked out of the room no longer panicked and with a sinister expression, he sneered at Li Lao and the others.

"Old fool, dare to steal my ginseng This time I'll make sure you have no place to rest in death!" The middle-aged man glared at Wu Lao and shouted.

"Kid, didn’t you steal from me first! And I already spared your life. Looks like good guys can't exist," Wu Lao shook his head in self-deprecation.

"You old folks, if you’ve got guts come on in!" The man shouted at Li Lao and the others before turning back into the room.

At this time, whatever this man had scattered outside was already swept away by a breeze from the mountain top.

Seeing that this person returned inside, Li Suijun turned to the elders behind him and said, "Hold your breath!" Then he led the way into the room, followed closely by all of the other elders who saw Li Suijun go in.

If they held their breaths, they needn't fear any tricks this person might pull. Besides Wu Lao, everyone else here had broken through to the Transformation Energy realm and had some resistance against toxins. Thus, they weren’t afraid of whatever tricks he might try.

The man walked into the house, looking shocked at everything inside. At this moment, the room was unusually quiet, with all the ghosts that had been present disappearing without a trace.

It turned out that when he entered the room, it seemed as if a black hole had formed, sucking in all the ghosts and making them vanish.

The specter of Xiao Yu, which was floating in mid-air, belched contentedly. It then crossed its legs while sitting in midair. Shortly after, these ghosts that he had swallowed were completely digested by his specter, causing it to become more solid when it finished the digestion.

"You guys just watch," said Wu Lao calmly as he looked at this man. "I will take care of this revenge myself!"

When Lao Li and the others heard what Wu Lao had said, they all stepped back a few steps. Since there wasn't much space in the room to begin with, they retreated to the doorway and windows, blocking off any exit for this man so that he couldn’t escape.

If such a large group of them allowed this middle-aged man to run away, what would be their face when they returned to Beijing Therefore, while they were being cautious, they kept an eye on him as well, wary that he might try to poison Wu Lao.

Wu Lao didn’t waste time with idle chatter. With a light tap of his cane on the ground, he leaped forward and kicked at this middle-aged man.

This middle-aged man wasn't very skilled in martial arts, so even though he saw Wu Lao approaching him with that kick, he couldn't avoid it no matter how hard he tried to.

Despite his disability, Wu Lao's martial arts skills were far from ordinary. His movements were still as swift as lightning. Even Zhang Dahan wouldn’t be able to dodge such a speed, let alone this middle-aged man who was only slightly stronger than an average person.

"Bang..... Ah....... "

The middle-aged man couldn't avoid the kick and ended up being kicked in the chest by Wu Lao, flying back and slamming into the wall. He let out a pained scream as he fell.

"Puh......"

After his scream of pain, this middle-aged man struggled to get back onto his feet, but once he did stand up, blood spurted from his mouth.

"It's you guys who are forcing my hand! You're making me do this.... I'll take all of you with me!" The middle-aged man sat against the wall in a corner after his struggle and glared at Wu Lao and the others, yelling madly.

After he finished shouting, he crossed his legs into a sitting position. His hands started moving rapidly while muttering incantations under his breath.

The hand signs he made grew faster by the second, and so did the speed of the incantation, along with its volume increasing dramatically.

"Kill him, stop him quickly!" Upon seeing the appearance of this middle-aged man, Master Li immediately realized that he was a practitioner, and thus shouted urgently. They had encountered Qimen practitioners before, so they were very wary of their strange techniques. Therefore, after Master Li's shout, he leaped into the air to deliver a palm strike towards the middle-aged man’s skull.

"Ke ke... Now you want to kill me Too late! Grand Ancestor, take revenge for me!" The incantation from this middle-aged man suddenly stopped as his eyes opened and he emitted an eerie laugh. With hatred in his gaze, he looked at Li Su jun who was flying towards him and shouted at the sky with a hint of madness flashing through his eyes.

After this man finished speaking, his flesh rapidly dried up and wasted away, like all moisture had evaporated from his body.

Master Li, who was in mid-air rushing toward the middle-aged man, changed his expression upon seeing this scene, quickly backing off while anxiously shouting: "Run, leave quickly!"

They swiftly exited through the door and leaped onto the roof corner by clinging to the wall, warily watching the annex where the middle-aged man was.

Xiao Yu's shadow soul watched inside as this middle-aged man's body rapidly wasted away. In moments, he looked like a dried corpse. Yet even in such a state, his hands remained motionless.

This man became increasingly desiccated; soon all flesh was consumed and the skin turned to powder and fell off, leaving behind only a skeleton. Since Xiao Yu’s body had transformed into a shadow soul, he could perceive every movement of this man.

Consequently, even as a mere skeleton, the moisture in his bones and marrow continued to evaporate.

In no time, a strong wind blew in through the open door. The middle-aged man’s skeletal frame was like it had all moisture sucked out of him; blown by this wind, he instantly turned into dust that disappeared without trace.

Anyone witnessing this would think the person was utterly annihilated to ashes and could not possibly be more dead.

But for Xiao Yu, who was a shadow soul, after the skeleton vanished from sight, he saw a black specter sitting in its place.

"Who are you How did you get here" Although this middle-aged man couldn't see Xiao Yu while alive, upon turning into a spirit, he could now see Xiao Yu’s shadow form.

"Heh heh, I'm here to collect your soul!" Xiao Yu's shadow chuckled and said to the middle-aged man's ghost.

"Kha kha... The ghosts in my house are all collected by you! Then you too must go die with them!" Upon hearing Xiao Yu’s words, this middle-aged man’s spirit emitted a strange laugh before his face turned serious. He glared at Xiao Yu and spat out hatefully. bought I guess it must be rented!
